Beginner’s Sourdough Class – Terms & Conditions

We’re glad you’re joining us for our Beginner’s Sourdough Class. This class has helped thousands of students gain confidence and successfully bake sourdough at home, and is designed to make the process clear, approachable, and repeatable.

Please review the following before registering.

Class Format

This is a demonstration-style class, not a hands-on baking class.

The instructor teaches each phase of the sourdough process by demonstrating bread at multiple stages, from starter maintenance through mixing, fermentation, shaping, scoring, and baking. Students learn by observing the process in real time, asking questions, and following along with guided explanation.

Classes typically include 12–15 students.

Who This Class Is For

This class is intentionally designed for beginners. The process is simplified and taught step by step, with the understanding that most students have little to no prior experience.

While individual results can vary, this demonstration format has been used to teach approximately 3,000 students, most of whom have gone on to bake successful sourdough loaves at home.

Registration & Payment

Registration is confirmed once payment is received. Seating is limited.

Refund Policy

Class fees are non-refundable.
Because seating is limited and preparation is made in advance, we are unable to offer refunds once a seat is purchased.

If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person with prior notice.

What’s Included

Each student will go home with:

  • An active sourdough starter

  • Flour for feeding and maintaining the starter

  • A detailed, step-by-step recipe that follows the class instruction

These materials are designed to help students begin baking at home with confidence after the class.

Class Experience & Expectations

This class focuses on learning through demonstration and instruction, rather than individual hands-on baking during class. While we aim to equip every student for success, results depend on factors such as follow-through, environment, and individual practice at home.

This class does not guarantee specific baking outcomes, but is structured to provide clear instruction, proven methods, and practical guidance.

Safety & Participation

Demonstrations may involve the use of ovens, baking tools, and hot surfaces. By attending, you acknowledge these risks and agree to participate as an observer at your own discretion.

Instructor Cancellations

In the unlikely event that we must cancel a class due to illness, weather, or unforeseen circumstances, you will be offered the choice of a full refund or transfer to a future class.

By registering for the Beginner’s Sourdough Class, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
